Piggies, Tadpoles and Elves (Oh My!)

If you haven't heard already, I'd like to tell you about our new kindergarten friend.  He's dressed in red, about 6 inches tall, and he goes by the name of Lulu le lutin.  On Monday, we heard a loud knock at our door leading into the schoolyard.  When we went to see who it was, there was no one there but we found an ice-covered package.  Inside was Lulu le lutin, a letter from the North Pole, and a cherry candy canes.  Each day, we race in to find his hiding place and we write about his adventures in our journals.

We've also got a Piggy Pen!  If we have made green choices and have calm and controlled bodies, we get to sit in the Piggy Pen to visit with Rose and Violette.  They are getting less scared and many of us have been able to hold and pet them.

Madame Katie was about to clean the filters in our aquarium when she made an adorable discovery.  We have three tadpoles living in our filter!.  They look to be about 2-months old and they will stay there for a little while longer until it's safe to move them to their own tank. Good luck little tadpoles!  Keep growing!

Peek at our (AMAZING) Week

This week was very full!  Here we are meeting our guinea pigs for the first time.  We also read a great book and practiced holding a stuffed guinea pig to show how gentle we could be.

We started some new snow-themed fine motor baskets:

Elastics on Geoboards

Pokey Pins

Snowflake Lego Challenge

Magnetic Marble Racing

Putty Search and Count

Mme Deanna also did a super cool lesson about different types of paper before showing us how to make our own paper airplanes.  Next, because we all used different types of paper to make our planes, we tested them to see which ones went the furthest.  Finally, we spend time playing with our airplanes and drawing and gluing on details.
